The annual meeting of the Japanese Association of Health Psychology took place on December 2nd and 3rd, 2023, at the Minato-Mirai Campus of Kanagawa University. Based on the content of the seminar paper submitted in the 2021 Academic Year, Professor Hiromitsu Miyata presented a poster.

Miyata, H., & Takahashi, M. (2023). Effects of TMD mantra practice on bruxism: A single-case design study focusing on mindfulness. 36th Japanese Association of Health Psychology, P2-21, December 2nd-3rd, 2023, Minato Mirai Campus, Kanagawa University, Yokohama, Japan (Presented on December 2nd, 2023).

The Japanese Association of Health Psychology had primarily held online events for several years, often limiting research presentations to online poster displays. While this was my first time to attend a face-to-face event, I had the chance to meet various individuals engaged in diverse research and practices, including those extensively studying Eastern mind-body practices such as yoga.

Moreover, it was impressive to see a considerable number of participants, including students from Kanagawa University, undergraduate, and Master's course students. I attended the evening social gathering on Saturday, where five members of Kanagawa University's brass band club performed Studio Ghibli songs and other music, creating a delightful atmosphere.

Indeed, such interactions have their limitations online, although feasible. Unexpected encounters leading to various research and other developments often stem from direct human-to-human interactions. This experience reaffirmed that opportunities for unforeseen connections and subsequent developments largely arise from face-to-face interactions.
