At the faculty' meeting and gathering of the Faculty of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
2024年度最後の教授会と教員懇親会で、今年度限りで退職される先生方がそれぞれ紹介され、ご挨拶されました。2024年度末で現代人間論系でご退職される大久保先生にも、長年の学術院への貢献に対して感謝状が渡されました。
大久保先生は日常生活の社会学、特にサードプレイスとしての「カフェ」に着目した研究や、日本の社会学の発展に重要な影響を与えた清水幾太郎の研究をされてきました。授業でも、実際にカフェに行って考察したことをレポートに書く、といった特徴的な課題を出されていたことが印象的です。インタビュー調査の手法を学んで、自分でも実際にやってみたい、といった動機でゼミを志望した学生も多かったようです。
また、退職される教員の恒例行事となっている最終講義も、コロナ以降における教育のオンライン化の流れを踏まえて、オンデマンド形式で収録して動画配信する形を選択されました。最終講義というと、その先生の歴代の門下生が集まる中で、大教室で行わる行事といったものが従来的なイメージです。しかし、会場に足を運べない人にも広くお話を届けたいということで、ここでもパイオニア的な一面を見せていただきました。
最終講義には、教室主任として私からの動画による短いメッセージも添えさせていただきました。
