Rio Miyamoto(Fourth-Year Undergraduate Student)

Profile & Research

I have loved moving to rhythm and dancing since childhood, and have continued dancing for over ten years through lessons and club activities.

Through these long-term experiences, I have come to feel a sense of exhilaration, emotional uplift, and release from everyday stress when moving my body in synchrony with music.

Currently, I am interested in investigating the underlying mechanisms and psychological effects of these experiences, based on my long-term experience in dance, from the perspectives of Somatic Psydhology and Mindfulness.

In today’s rapidly changing society, shaped by the spread of AI and digital networks, I believe that attending to one’s body in the “here and now” and cultivating awareness of bodily sensations may play an important role in enhancing one’s sense of being alive and the meaning of existence.
