Besli Clinic, a psychosomatic medical clinic located at Kanda, Tokyo, conducts various non-pharmacological, body-based psychiatric treatments including trascranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), therapy for sleep disorders, acupuncture, etc., as well as a return-to-work program for employees on administrative leave.

 We visited Besli Clinic on March 2nd. Participants from Miyata Lab. were: Hiromitsu Miyata, a first-grade master course student, a fourth-grade undergraduate student, and 3 second-grade undergraduates who are prospective members of our seminar.

After Hiromitsu made a brief introduction of the lab/seminar, the clinic director Dr. Tanaka introduced the concept of the clinic including its underlying neuroscientific theories, and a clinic staff introduced empirical studies relevant to gut-brain interaction. We then took a tour of the therapeutic instruments and actually experienced some of them.
