Profile

Self-Introduction

Born in Nara, Japan in 1981, I loved to collect insects and to play in the nature from my early childhood. I studied experimental psychology since I was an undergraduate student at Kyoto University, and my studies at the graduate school involved behavioral experiments on planning and problem solving in pigeons, keas (New Zealand parrots), and human children. I was then oriented towards more integrative and harmonious scientific studies on mind that are based on the Eastern perspectives, being inspired by Nishida's philosophy and D. T. Suzuki's Buddhist thoughts. Part of my post-doctoral studies concerned psychological and/or neuroscientific investigations on a speed-reading method and yoga. From 2017, I am a faculty on "mind-body theory" at Waseda University. Besides the studies, I have been playing early music (Baroque music) etc. on the recorder since I was a university student.
